Follow Me
I'm Debbie Johnson, the Indie dyer and spinner behind Hampton Artistic Yarns. I love all things fiber - I love to touch it, sniff it, cuddle it, spin it and knit it - I honestly can't get enough! I started spinning and dyeing almost a decade ago and am currently in my third year of study toward my Master Spinners certification through Olds College.
My "Big Why" is to explore and share my creativity with fellow fiber artists. I love to make the world a more beautiful, colorful place and to get back to basics by working with my hands. In crafting my yarns, I use beautifully honed handmade tools and ethically (and when possible, organically) raised fibers. I also carry Fair Trade imported sari silks which lend beautiful texture and sheen to any project.
My home studio is located in East Quogue, NY ~ in the heart of The Hamptons on Eastern Long Island. We get all four seasons here, from long lazy Summer beach days to snowy Winter days by the fireplace. Autumn is ablaze with treetop color and Spring is bursting with bright blooms. I feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful place and am constantly drawing inspiration from the natural world around me.
